Harrison Mills Observations

This is a place to keep notes about what's happening at White Rock, Delta 2, Harrison Mills and Lafarge while we wait for the Hancock Wildlife site to be back on line.

Over the seasons that all of you have observed the nest has any other eagles been in it other than Mom or Dad Honeycomb?

Yes, two seasons during the winter months a female has been observed in the nest that only had 1 foot. Both times she came in after dark I believe, probably just wanted a nice cozy place to rest her one good foot.

Yes! The Special Lady [ with a foot deformity ] slept in the nest one night but that was before Mom & Dad claimed this nest as their own and if my memory serves me right ..... a year later the Special Lady was on the nest one other night after dark looking for a place to rest and Mom chased her off!

ADDED
This nest was originally abandoned by another pair of eagles .

Sorry Darlene .I just saw your post!

I don't do this often - but I used admin permissions to add a picture of the adult so we'd have it for comparison purposes - it's in my post from one of the times the zoomer got a close look - viewtopic.php?p=963#p963.

You're welcome, Bev - and thanks to you and Darlene for zooming, and thanks for the video mark!

I'm not sure, but it looks as if the adult on the branch may be snoozing with her head tucked in.

Oh man you guys, it's so wonderful to be able to read the temp. forum and see the nest again!!
I've now read back and, once again, feel up to date on what's happening.
It's so wonderful to see all the eagles returning to the flats - if I still lived in Richmond I'm sure that I'd constantly making the drive to HM to take it all in first hand!!

Glad you found your way here, Anne!

Adult on perch is up and preening. Good job trying to get close, Darlene - not easy when she's so far away from the cam, and it's not that sunny a day.

Dinner time here - I'll try to check back later.

3:52 The female has turned around and I can't see a leg band but it's too foggy to see really clear. Good to see you Anne!
