Harrison Mills Observations
Re: Harrison Mills Observations
Lucky this weather held off until after the weekend of the FVBEF!
Re: Harrison Mills Observations
2:23pm.I agree Heather !
On the S PTZ Cam for a look around !
2:32pm...It is amazing to see eagles the lone tree and some on the flats.....others flying over the river on this miserable wet and windy day....
Eagles have 7000 feathers .....they consist of interlocking microscopic structures that are light and very strong .... Layers of feathers trap air to insulate birds against the cold and protect them from the rain!

2:56pm.Off the SPTZ....Dinner Time here......Hope to BBL

Re: Harrison Mills Observations
Heather I found this
An eagle's leg muscles are tucked up under its feathers, nearer the warm center of its body, and it has very few soft tissues in its long legs and feet, which are wrapped by thick, scaly skin that helps protect them from the cold. If its feet do get cold, it can always tuck them, often one at a time, underneath its feathers.
