HWF Forum Updates

We seem to have a problem with the forum - I get the following error message when I try to open the page:

I've sent a message to our tech person, but it is very early, so it may be a while before he is able to look into the problem.

I'll post any updates here.

Hancock Forum Update

We are planning to take the Hancock Wildlife Forum https://forum.hancockwildlife.org offline this evening to install some updates that we hope will address some of the slowness we've been seeing while trying to post. We are hoping that the forum will be back online sometime tomorrow morning (pacific time) - and will post any changes or updates on this thread.

We may have a couple of additional updates to do over the next week or two, and will try to keep everyone notified in advance.

If you have questions, you can email me at judyb@hancockwildlife.org - be aware that I'll answer from a different account - that one doesn't currently work for outgoing email.

Note - this will not affect our website hancockwildlife.org or our web cams - they are on different servers.

Hancock Forum Update - Take 2

If all goes according to plan, we'll be locking the Hancock forum around 9:30 pm pacific time tonight, and with a bit of luck, it will be back up and running by early tomorrow morning.

The forum has been moved to the new server and we've unlocked it - however, several of us are getting messages like this when we try to post:

If you get a message like that - don't panic - it's not you, it's a security setting we need to sort out.

I'm posting here because - gee - I can't post on the forum because of the security issue.

Thanks for posting, CC!

David Hathaway is trying some of the things we've used in the past for similar issues - hopefully he'll find the right one soon.

The HWF forum is back - big thanks to David Hathaway!

The extra step needed was to reset the name of the cookies that the forum uses to remember us - no clue why that helped, but it seems that it did.
