Delta3 Observations 2015

This is a place to keep notes about what's happening at White Rock, Delta 2, Harrison Mills and Lafarge while we wait for the Hancock Wildlife site to be back on line.

9:38a - Dad brought a fish.
9:39a - He stood at nest edge and flew out left.
9:40a - Mom begins feeding but it only lasted a few minutes. Chick
had some nice bites.
10:20-:26a - Mom up to feed again. Feeding lasted 6 minutes with
chick getting more bites than other feeding.

11:47a - Parent trills and cheeps from the little one.
11:57a - Chick cheeps, Mom gets up aerates around bowl edge and around
her chick then settles back to cover chick and egg.

12:45p - Mom with her wings slightly away continues to incubate in the same
position. A bit ago the wee one cheeped and she moved up slightly then right back
down.

Out @12:46p.

There was a feeding just before 4.

I notice that there have been no rolls of the egg for quite a while making me wonder if instinctually these two know their egg isn't going to hatch.

4:02-:03p - Nest exchange. Parent came in, Mom I think, walked around the chick
and egg then settled over the bowl.

4:33p - I just notice the cam clock is off by 19 minutes.
Mom brooding in a different position - facing 4.

I hope I'm getting my parent IDs correct. I'm assuming it was Ma in the nest, then Pa flies in to join them.

8:00 p.m.: Ma rolls the egg.
8:02 p.m.: Pa arrives, joining Ma and the chick. He may have brought prey with him.
8:03 p.m.: Ma begins feeding the chick.
8:04 p.m.: Pa grabs what looks like fish nestovers and begins eating. Ma yells at him.
8:04-8:05 p.m.: Feeding continues as both Ma and Pa nibble from the fish.
